NWDAF's Young People's Arts Development

As the young people's artistic programme goes from strength to strength, NWDAF acknowledge that this has not been possible without the vision, commitment and dedication that Jennie Walker brought to the work from 2002-2007. Jennie has created a legacy to be proud of, one which has proved to be life changing for many Disabled/Deaf children and young people across Merseyside. She worked relentlessly to empower Disabled/Deaf children and young people to create arts and make career choices in the creative industries.

Jennie has worked so hard over the four and a half years at NWDAF. She has supported all the young people and PAs with all the projects.

over the years that I have known Jennie it has been a pleasure to work with her doing the projects and working with artists. I liked the NSPCC project. While we were doing this we made a film with Twin Vision and NWDAF. We got lost on the way to a restaurant and we were driving around for hours. We all said we are all very hungry!

I have been in lots of projects such as DaDaFest with young people, hosting the night was Craig McDonald. The years that I helped were; 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Visual arts doing mosaics, talking to artists about projects, the music project and singing project. As young people we were interviewed as part of another project. We all had jobs to do for NWDAF and DaDaFest in 2006, with help from Jennie.

The drama Project with Jennie and guy and Denise when I had a cold, I still came along to do this.

Jennie Walker has listened to Young People while doing the projects . She has supported me with the Communications Project and I was employed by MAP. Doing this, I interviewed the Young People about the projects they had done, then I had lots to report back to the managers.

I had to plan the conferences with John Norris, Liam Sutherland and Richard Tucker.

I have had fun with the other projects also helping young people with assistance. I have helped Jennie in NWDAF as part of college work experience. I have gained a number of skills working with her and with her supervising me.
